Have you ever heard of a vampire squid? No?
Well, I hadn’t either until I saw this amazing video on the National Geographic website.
Click on this link to view the video “Vampire Squid turns Inside Out”
You can find it at URL http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2010/01/100203-squid-vampire-threatened-video/
In the video, you can hear some of the research findings of the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute who have been filming the squid and other deep-sea creatures and see footage of the squid as it turns itself inside out as a defense mechanism. It’s really cool (and a tiny bit creepy!).
