Quiz Answers

1. Saturn. It has a cyclone that has lasted five years so far.
2. Direct current.
3. Talc.
4. Shoaling. This is different from schooling, where fish swim together in a coordinated manner.
5. Harmful phytoplankton such as some types of dinoflagellates. This can often cause the ocean water to turn reddish brown. Scientists from CSIRO have teamed up with the Western Australian Department of Water to use mining by-products to help reduce algal blooms in waterways.

CSIRO Science by Email Quiz

Hello everyone and welcome back!

I had a lovely holiday although the weather in Australia has been very wild and woolly so far this year.

To get our brains back into gear and get us thinking, here are the CSIRO Science by Email quiz questions sent to us this week.

4. What is the term used in biology to describe fish that stay together for social reasons?
